Access Rights

The Access Rights module, is used to specify who has the rights to modify particular modules within the site.

The modules shown will generally be all the modules that have been installed on your site. Many times the Directory module is customized so it is no longer called Directory, however, the rights of all modules that utilize the Directory module will be editable by that one module in your Access Rights module.

Below are some of the common modules that you may see in the Access Rights module:

  • Administration Access
  • Blogs
  • CMS
  • Comments
  • CRM
  • Designer
  • E-Commerce
  • File Manager
  • Forms
  • Library
  • Mailer
  • News
  • Redirects
  • Site Manager
  • Tag

They all follow the same format when it comes to adding or removing rights as the example for Administration Access below.

Administration Access:

Administration Access tab is used to specify which groups have the right to access the admin site. Usually, active rights are given to administrators and the development team. In order to pick the specific groups which you want to be given the right to log into the administration, simply select a group's name from the right-hand column labeled "No right," and then click on the "add selected" (left-pointing) arrow, which will move the chosen group to the left-hand "Has right" column.

In order to remove a group's right to log into the administration, simply select the group's name from the left window and click on the "remove selected" (right-pointing) arrow. The group will then be moved back to the "No right" column, indicating that the group's members will no longer have the right to access the administration site.
